Our vineyard lies in Lavreotiki, in the region of Keratea, part of the broader Mesogaia wine-growing zone—a land with deep historical roots in viticulture, celebrated since the days of ancient Greece and the symposiums of Plato, Socrates, and Aristotle.
While Keratea belongs to this renowned region, our vineyard stands apart. It offers significant advantages in terms of climate, altitude, and soil composition, making it truly unique within Mesogaia.
Nestled at the foothills of Mount Panion, our vineyard holds the distinction of being the highest in Mesogaia, at an elevation of 200 to 350 meters. Surrounded by the sea, the vineyard benefits from the cooling marine breezes that temper the summer heat, helping the grapes ripen slowly and evenly.
But the true magic lies in the soil. Our land is a complex mosaic—primarily sandy clay with limestone subsoil, gradually shifting to rocky terrain on the outskirts of Keratea. As we move toward Lavrio, the limestone gives way to shale. This mineral-rich landscape has been known for its natural wealth since the Age of Pericles and up until the postwar period, giving our wines a distinct mineral edge and vibrant character.
This is the soil that shapes the essence of our wines. It’s what makes Mylonas wines stand out.
Today, our vineyard spans 17 hectares. Dry-farmed and low-yielding, with vines aged 45 to 65 years, it produces a maximum of just 400 kg per hectare. The result is concentrated, expressive fruit, rich in character and history. Naturally, the heart of our vineyard is the Savatiano variety—a grape we grew up with, one that’s become part of our identity.
